The Preston Medical Library wants to help patients and community members find useful, easy-to-understand health information. Being able to locate reliable health information can help people make challenging health decisions.
Your patrons can use the links to websites provided in this research guide or you can contact the library to request health information. We have provided an online form below or you can call the library directly.
This research guide is not intended to be a comprehensive collection of consumer/patient health sites on the Internet but is intended as a starting point for research.
This service provides information on health and medical topics such as:
What kinds of foods can I eat now that I have diabetes?
My doctor says I have fibromyalgia. What does that mean?
How do I find a doctor at the UT Medical Center?
What is the latest treatment for my cancer?
In the University of Tennessee Knoxville Medical Center, the Health Information Center provides the patients, their families, and area citizens with consumer-level health information, computers and Internet access as well as the services provided by medical librarians from the Preston Medical Library.
Our services include assisting patients and families of patients in finding information on health-related topics as well as providing printed information by mail to consumers. This is a public education service of the Preston Medical Library, part of the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.
We offer outreach programs to community groups on locating and evaluating health information for authority, accuracy, objectivity, currency, and coverage.
If you would like a medical librarian to visit your group, please contact us.
