What is EndNote?

EndNote is citation management software you can use to:

  • Organize your research (citations, full-text articles, images, notes)
  • Automatically generate in-text citations and bibliography as you write (Cite While You Write)
  • Share EndNote libraries with collaborators
  • Sync with EndNote Online to access your references from any computer
  • Organize references in folders
  • Remove duplicates
  • Find full text of articles in PDF format
  • Find the best fit journals for your manuscript

NOTE: If you are installing EndNote on a computer owned by GSM or UTMCK, you will need to contact the GSM IT Help Desk, 305-8476, once you start the install process. Installing software requires administrative rights, which most users don't have. IT can assist remotely.

It is recommended that you uninstall previous versions of EndNote before upgrading to a newer version.

Choose Clarivate Analytics on the OIT software distribution list. After you have downloaded the zip file from the UT server, you have to extract the files before installing.You will be asked for a product key unless you extract the files first!

EndNote Basic

EndNote Basic is the free, online version of EndNote.  This is perfect for users who are just getting into research, or do not have access to the full version of the software.  Details are available from the EndNote Basic site.
